History of Klasinski Clinic

Klasinski Clinic was founded by Dr. C. A. Klasinski in beautiful Stevens Point, WI in September 1968. The clinic staff was comprised of one physician (Dr. Klasinski), one receptionist and one x-ray technician. Not even Dr. Klasinski himself could foresee the future growth of the clinic.

Dr. Klasinski’s vision to open a clinic in Stevens Point, WI developed long before the doors opened in 1968. He was born in Stevens Point and spent his formative years enjoying the Central Wisconsin community. Dr. Klasinski attended preparatory school in Sturtevant, WI where he was on the school’s basketball team and took courses in five foreign languages. After graduation, he moved to Chicago where he attended Loyola University and subsequently Loyola Stritch School of Medicine where he obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr. Klasinski completed his internship at St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond, IN, after which he moved to Wautoma, WI and practiced General Medicine in the rural community. Subsequently he decided to specialize in Orthopaedic and Hand Surgery. He studied General Surgery at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee, WI and thereafter completed an Orthopaedic Surgery residency with a Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery Fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. After completing his fellowship, he returned to his hometown of Stevens Point and established the Klasinski Clinic.

Dr. Klasinski was joined in his orthopaedic practice by Dr. John Kozisek in July 1981. His daughter Dr. Michele Klasinski joined the clinic as a neurologist in 1990. Following this, Dr. Matthew Riordan, another orthopaedist and his son-in-law, returned to his hometown of Stevens Point and joined the practice in 1992. Shortly thereafter Dr. Kozisek left the clinic and Dr. C. A. Klasinski retired in 1993, after a very fulfilling surgical career. The clinic was happy to welcome Dr. Thomas Guse, who became Central Wisconsin’s first Sports Medicine Fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon in 1996. Shortly thereafter Physician’s Assistant Tracie Hinaus joined the practice in 1999 as did James Lepak, P.A.-C. in 2006. During the summer of 2008, the clinic welcomed the return of Dr. David Henneghan and Dr. James Banovetz to the area. Another Physician’s Assistant, Kari Zdroik, began assisting those surgeons as the clinic basically doubled its capacity to care for patients at that time.

In June 2006, a new Klasinski Medical Complex was built. The complex is owned by partners that are dedicated to the independent healthcare of residents in the Stevens Point area. The medical complex contains not only orthopaedic and neurology clinics (Klasinski Clinic) but also an Ambulatory Surgical Center, Physical Therapy Associates, and The Urology Clinic.

The visions and aspirations which Dr. Klasinski held so dearly as he founded the clinic in 1968 continue to remain a strong part of our organization today. His desire to provide excellent yet personal care to his hometown community continues to carry on in the healthcare providers’ ideals not only at the Klasinski Clinic but also the entire Klasinski Medical Complex.

Welcome to the Klasinski Clinic website. We look forward to helping you in any way we can.
