Welcome to the Klasinski Clinic Medical Facility
Our team of Orthopaedic (or Orthopedic) Surgeons and Physicians Assistants (PAs) work with a superb medical staff focusing on the needs of the patient first while utilizing the highly efficient, state of the art electronic information systems including electronic medical records, computed radiography, digital MRI, and digital electromyography. With access to medical information at the point of care, all physicians use Intergy® EHR, an electronic medical records tool developed by Sage Software (formerly WebMD). Intergy, a premier medical record system that allows physicians to have access to all medical records, enables E-Scribing of prescriptions, current medical conditions, and x-rays from the convenience of an electronic clipboard.
Technology, however, is a tool to enhance the quality of care and does not replace the caring and personal approach to medicine by all of our staff. Specializing in orthopaedics and sports medicine, our physicians provide...

"When I was around the age of six or seven, I remember quietly walking through the doors of the Klasinski Clinic on my way to see my grandpa and dad at work, well at least that is what I told my mom. Soon after I would walk back out of the clinic with a handful of suckers that my grandpa always kept on hand in his exam rooms. I am always happy to see that the suckers are still there even today."

From the Opinion section of the Stevens Point Journal:
"The recent obituary on Dr. "Mike" Klasinski stated he was very passionate living life to its fullest. As a doctor, he was a very compassionate man.
In the summer of 1972, I fell off an aluminum extension ladder while painting my house. The result was a multiple compound fracture of the right leg. When I arrived at St. Michael's, I asked for Dr. Klasinkski. He was at a wedding and might not be available for emergency. What a stroke of luck and blessing when he showed up at the emergency room.
Dr. Mike was my orthopedic surgeon until 1992. My leg had developed a massive infection from being dragged in my driveway. The great compassion and knowledge of this man saved me from having my leg amputated just below the knee. Well, Dr. "Mike" helped me through some tough medical times over a period of 20 years.
I still have my leg and walk with a slight limp. Not only was he passionate in life, he was compassionate as a doctor. His bedside manner was second to none.
Most important he was a humble man."

Kari had her ACL reconstructed by Dr. Banovetz and Jim Lepak. As a student she was able to observe them in the clinic and it was during that time she realized that she wanted to become a physician assistant and wanted to work in orthopaedics. In 2003, Kari was accepted into the UW-Madison Physician Assistant Program. In his current practice, patients are empowered. The concerns of the corporation are never placed before patients needs. When patients are visiting with Klasinski Clinic doctors, they are actually talking with the clinics owners. Matt married Paula Klasinski, daughter of Dr. C.A. Klasinski, in 1983.
They have five children, Logan, Alex, Luke, Austin, and Natalie.
Dr. James M. Banovetz decided to become a physician in the 4th grade, inspired by his uncle and the book The Making of a Surgeon, by William Nolan. Jim enjoys fitness and outdoor activities, studying the social sciences, and working with his hands.
Dr. Thomas R. Guse was born and raised in Janesville, Wisconsin. Growing up and throughout high school, he was involved in sports and participated in clubs and other activities. Dr. Guse did well in school, graduating from Janesville Craig near the top of his class. Tom went onto college at The University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire where he majored in chemistry. While there, he participated in several intramural sports and other activities. Dr. Guse went to medical school at the University of Wisconsin where he again graduated with honors. Dr. Dave Henneghan was born and raised in East Lansing, Michigan. There, he attended St. Thomas Aquinas elementary school, and East Lansing High School. Unfortunately, his father died when Dave was only five. Because of this, he and his two sisters were raised by their mother. In high school, Dave played football and basketball, but was most interested in soccer and was his teams captain. After high school, he attended Albion College, where he played soccer and worked as a resident assistant in the freshman dorm. Dave also worked as an EMT on the local ambulance service, and volunteered as a Big Brother for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. In the summers, he worked at a local automobile dealership and an Oldsmobile factory.
Daves interest in medicine developed early in life. Mary, his younger sister with whom he was very close, died of osteosarcoma at the age of 18, inspiring Dave to pursue medicine.
Dave attended Michigan State University College of Human Medicine for medical school, spending his clinical years in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He interned for a year at St. Marys hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, before completing his orthopaedic residency in Grand Rapids. He was board certified in 1992, and recertified in 2003.
Dave began practicing orthopaedics in Stevens Point in 1990 at the Rice Clinic, where he worked for 17 years. He continues to practice in Stevens Point, now at the Klasinski Clinic. Hip and knee replacements are Daves specialty interest, and he emphasizes less invasive techniques and encourages rapid recovery for his patients.
Medicine is not Daves only passion. Dave has a wife named Karen, a son named Patrick, and a daughter named Laura. His other interests include bicycling, backpacking, camping, swimming, and cross-country skiing. During the summer of 2008, Dave had the opportunity to take a cross country bicycle trip with his son and a family friend. The three rode 3,750 miles from Puget Sound, Washington, to Bar Harbor, Maine.
Daves philosophy in practice is as follows: "My joy in medicine comes from helping people to continue doing the things they love to do."
The Klasinski Clinic offers onsite magnetic resonance imaging two times a week, Tuesdays and Fridays. MRI is a highly advanced technology that enables physicians to look into your body. It uses magnets, radio waves, and computers to create extremely detailed pictures or images of your internal organs and structures.
Because MRI produces images from any angle with great clarity, it provides a wealth of diagnostic information more quickly and easily than many other tests and exploratory surgery.
Preparing for your MRI scan: No special preparations are needed for most MRI scans. You can continue taking any prescribed medications. You should wear comfortable clothing, preferably without zippers or snaps. If you are having an MRI of your head, we ask that you dont wear any eye makeup.
Klasinski Clinic uses state-of-the-art x-ray equipment. Computed radiography uses very similar equipment to conventional radiography except that in place of a film to create the image, an imaging plate is used. Instead of taking an exposed film into a darkroom for developing in chemical tanks or an automatic film processor, the imaging plate is run through a special laser scanner that reads and digitizes the image. The digital image can then be viewed and enhanced using software that has the same functions as other image processing software.
Computed Radiography has the advantage of being able to preview images in a much shorter period of time, often within 15 seconds after placing the plate into the reader. Fewer retakes are done because the chance of overexposure or underexposure are less likely to happen. This reduces the amount of radiation exposed to the patient. The images can be downloaded onto a disc for the convenience of the patient seeking another opinion, transfer of care or just wanting to show family members their x-rays.
Bone density scan (DEXA) is now available at the Klasinski Clinic. An estimated 44 million Americans have osteoporosis or low bone mass. Women are four times more likely to develop osteoporosis than men. DEXA scanning measures bone mineral density to predict fracture risk in the same way measuring blood pressure can help predict the risk of stroke. Determining a persons bone mineral density (BMD) helps a doctor decide if a person is at increased risk for osteoporosis-related fracture. People with a family history of osteoporosis are at a higher risk than others. Other risk factors are older age, small and thin stature, inactive lifestyle, smoking, alcohol and the use of certain medications including steroids.
The DEXA is the most common way to measure BMD. The amount of radiation exposure is very low. The hips and low back are the most common measuring sites and a scan generally takes 10 to 20 minutes to complete and is painless. From the results of the scan a doctor can prescribe medication that can slow down, stop, and in some instances, reverse bone loss.
Preparing for your Bone Density Test Wear comfortable clothing (no jeans due to rivets), elastic waist pants is best. Also wear comfortable shoes, please avoid sandals or clogs. Sports bras are suggested but not necessary. If you take calcium supplements please do not take 24-48 hours before your test. If you had a test with contrast dye you must wait 72 hours to one week before having this test. It is also suggested to check with your insurance plan to see if the bone density test is covered under your plan.
Laboratory testing is available onsite for patient convenience. Results are automatically imported into the patients electronic medical record for accuracy and immediate access for physicians. Electronic laboratory database allows graphing and correlating treatment plans with medication levels.
